In May, we got an unexpected phone call from a young man preparing to propose to his long-term girlfriend.
Liam was eager and a bit nervous but remained calm as we devised a plan with him for a surprise beach proposal in Mantoloking, New Jersey. He explained to us that every year Sabrina and himself take a trip down to the Jersey Shore. This was the house in Mantoloking and that’s where he wanted to make his move.
The day of, Julie and I found a perfect spot on the beach and played off being ‘tourists’ with our cameras hidden in our bags. We waited, filled to the brim with excitement! This was our first proposal photoshoot ever.
We braced ourselves as we received the text from Liam saying Sabrina and himself were descending upon the beach. We watched them come down the pathway. We were pretending to not look and mind our own business. Liam looked over at us with a nod of acknowledgement. That’s when he walked Sabrina over close to the water, and dropped to one knee.
Sabrina’s face lit right up as she excitedly said yes! Her ring was EXTRAVAGANT and you could see it shining while we snapped away. We made sure we werecatching every moment of her reaction! She quizzically asked Liam “Do you know these people?”. We all had a good laugh as her eyes got big when he said “Yes, I hired them!” as we didn’t miss a beat with our cameras.
After the initial surprise, we made sure to take some portraits of this beautiful couple as we waited for their family descended from the house to join them on the beach. Champagne was popped, and all joined simultaneously in celebration. It may have been our first proposal caught on camera, but only one of the many engagements we get to cover! Congratulations Liam and Sabrina!
We got to spend the afternoon with Kayla and Colleen in Batsto Village in Hammonton, New Jersey.
And it was PERFECT. Literally PERFECT. Want to know why?
It was a beautiful day in early spring, with the sun shining bright and weather warmer than originally anticipated on a May evening. It was perfect for some engagement photography. You could see the love radiating through these two non-stop! Adoration gleaming in their eyes, young love rampant on a perfect day!
From the moment we arrived, you could tell these two were absolutely infatuated with each other.
They were all smiles and so bubbly it was contagious! The sun lit them up perfectly from behind while we danced in between the historic buildings. We stopped to try some differently lighting on a rickety old porch, and hid amongst the trees. From there, we traveled down the paths to a broken down tree, where we played around by yelling out random obscenities just for fun (it was an empty park, don’t worry, we weren’t offending anyone!) and Kayla being an experienced dancer, had Coll spin her around to the backdrop of a hazy sun.
We worked our way over to a bridge where we overlooked a large lake, and all was so peaceful, we all stopped for a moment to reflect upon the beauty that surrounded us.
On the walk back, Coll lifted up Kayla and spun her in circles, and there were laughs shared all around! Our last stop was where we began, where we managed to grab a few last shots at sunset then called it a day.
We were fortunate to capture these two at Batsto Village in Hammonton! It may not have been the Jersey Shore like we are accustomed to, however it was a nice change up. Thank you Kayla and Coll for being so amazing!
We all love those warm spring days, don’t we? I met LeeAnn a few years back on a softball team, and let me tell you this girl always had me non-stop laughing. So, when we spoke again years later and we had the opportunity to photograph her engagement session, I was of course very excited!
Hearing she got engaged to her high-school sweetheart Jordan was great news. The two had met when competing in baseball, and maybe it wasn’t love at first sight, but once they fell for each other, the fit was ‘like a glove’ (sorry for my punny humor).
We met them for a fun little session at Natirar State Park in Gladstone-Peapack New Jersey. I absolutely love photography on so many levels, but engagement photography sessions are some of the best because they are laid back and creativity can abound!
Claire is a beautiful, bubbly woman who smiles non-stop! Her fiancé Josh was very calm, cool, and collected. Together, they are a harmonious pair.
Claire contacted us with interest of getting engagement portraits done. She told us she’d love to go to Allaire State Park in Wall, New Jersey. We happily obliged! Allaire State Park includes a historical village where there are trails and live demonstrations of how the villagers of the past lived.
It was apparent from the beginning that these two had amazing chemistry! They are both law students who met while in school in Florida, and the rest was history.
